I am planning a trip to Montreal and would need to connect in Toronto. I could do a shorter connection to shorten travel time, but say the connection is 3 or 4 hours... will I have time to do anything in Toronto? Say I wanted a meal and a little bit of shopping, what is in walking distance of Union Station and will I make it back in time to catch my next train? Thanks!

Walk to the subway station inside the Union station, 5 min. Then take the Yonge train to the second stop, Queen station, 3 min.

Now you are at Eaton Centre.

Go back the same way, using the subway.

Walking to Eaton Centre takes about 15 min.

For London and Paris i might say definitely being a rain coat. it is going to rain and it would be chilly!!! smart to arise with underground maps once you get there so which you recognize the place you're going. in case you desire to maintain money on nutrients, cigarettes. etc i might advise going to interior of reach aspects the place citizens are. while you're crucial, each thing is a lot extra high priced.. you rather in basic terms want the undemanding holiday issues.. digicam, clothing. etc yet definitely advise heat clothing. while you are going to purchase a blouse that asserts 'i like London' stay away from actual wearing it in London, all human beings can tend know you're a travelers and those those that sell to travelers will attempt and notice you each thing lots extra adventure, especially while you're American.. different than that, you will get excitement from... :)

Union station is right downtown. You can go outside and see the CN tower, walk south a bit and look at the lake, or head north and find yourself at the Eaton Centre. You can take the TTC pretty much anywhere also. Union station is also connected to the PATH which is a huge underground 'mini city', with 'roads' underneath the real roads and tons of stores and restaurants. You can also walk through the PATH from Union Station to the Eaton Centre

This is why Google Maps was invented. You can look all that up on Google Maps and learn for yourself.
