My boyfriend and I are planning to visit Toronto for a weekend sometime next month. We live in Rochester, NY and would be drivng there but neither of us have been there before so we're hoping for some tips. What are the must sees of Toronto? Names of good restaurants or hotels? Is public transit easy to use? Any and all help will be welcomed.

Toronto has a population of 2.8 million (GTA has 6 million) people so there are lots of attractions to check out. Toronto is often referred to as the little New York, because it has many little ethnic towns located in the heart of the city. This will enable tourists to eat at a chinese restaurant in Chinatown, and within 40 minutes, eat at restaurants in Little Italy, Greektown, Portugal Village and Little India. As for the transit, the subways are pretty easy to navigate and there are lots of maps hanging on walls if you get lost. Taxicabs are easily accessible and so are the streetcars. There are many hotels in Toronto that differ in class, so you'll have to be more specific on what you are looking for. Meanwhile you can check out this website:

Must sees`, well it depends on what your into-

1. The CN Tower I think you should check out, it offers a spectualor view from the top. There is also a glass floor which you can stand on, it`s thick glass so don`t worry about falling through. It costs $35 just to enter the CN tower (absurd I know), however theres a side door you can get into, it takes you into a resturanant and as long as you purchase something from there, your allowed open access to the CN tower.

2. Theres the Royal Ontario Museum, if your into arts and historical events

3. Hotels, I suggest you google on your own because they range in price and location in Toronto

4. Public transit is iffy IMO- The buses are always packed and it costs $3.25 per bus ride, same with the subways. If you stay in the downtown core, you wont need to rely on transit.

The CN Tower is the must-see tourist attraction.

The views are amazing - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwvXe_B6nR8&feature=related

On a clear day, you can see Rochester clear across Lake Ontario from up there.

Glass walled elevators, a revolving restaurant, it's beautiful up there.

Underneath downtown Toronto is another fascinating place, the Toronto PATH:

To borrow a quote about it:

"According to Guinness World Records, PATH is the largest underground shopping complex with 28 km (17 miles) of shopping arcades. It has 371,600 sq. metres (4 million sq. ft) of retail space. The approximate 1,200 shops and services employ about 5,000 people."

The PATH is a network of pedestrian tunnels linking various downtown locations & public transit.

It's heated in winter and air conditioned and it's like being in a giant shopping mall.

It's also handy for getting around downtown when it's too hot/cold/stormy outside.

Speaking of shopping, the downtown Eaton Centre mall's glass-ceiling is a tourist attraction.

Then there's places like Toronto's castle, Casa Loma.

And if you're into arts and culture there's the Royal Ontario Museum and Art Gallery of Ontario.

The TTC public transit system's easy to use with lots of ways of getting around:

-Buses, streetcars, subway, LRT trains, harbour ferries out to the Toronto Islands...

Restaurants. There's over ten thousand of those. So you won't starve, that's for sure.

Toronto's more ethnically diverse than New York City so Toronto cuisine is world cuisine.

Different people have different tastes, so here's a handy website to what's available:

If you're legal drinking age for Ontario (19 or older) the club scene's awesome.

Toronto's a city that loves to party:

Toronto's Entertainment District becomes the Club District at night:

You'll find places like The Guvernment, North America's biggest dance club.

The Guv holds a maximum of 10 thousand people and it's amazing.

My fave hotel in Toronto is One King West.

Awesome views like this:

Hope that helps and that you guys have a great time in Toronto!
