I'm at yonge & davisville. Perfect combination of downtown and a little peace & quiet.

Alternatively, the 'Village' (Church & Wellesly) has great restaurants and bars and is extremely safe.

If I ever move back to Toronto I would live at Yonge and Eglinton or Yonge and St.Clair. It's right on the subway line with just enough 'city' around it. Lots of restaurants and movie theaters close by with quick access to downtown.

If you are not a city lover, then move to Willowdale, or even farther out to Markham or Aurora. The last two are semi rural still, with quick access to lake country and about 1 hour to downtown. The GO Train goes from Aurora to downtown.
